Block Paving
Block paving has been the UK driveway standard for 40 years for good reason — it's durable, repairable and looks great. We've laid block-paved driveways across hundreds of West Midlands homes.
About our block paving service
Block paving uses individual concrete or clay blocks laid in a pattern — herringbone, stretcher bond or basket weave — bedded into a screeded sand base on a properly compacted sub-base. Joints are filled with kiln-dried sand (or polymeric sand if you want to keep weeds out long-term) and the edges restrained with concrete haunching. The result is a surface that handles vehicle weight for decades, lets you lift and replace individual blocks if anything ever gets damaged, and works with any house style — from period semis to modern new-builds. We use a mix of British and European block manufacturers and can match almost any colour or finish. Every install gets full base preparation, edge haunching, and a finished surface laid to fall for drainage.

Block Paving — Frequently Asked Questions
Which block paving pattern is best?+
Herringbone is the strongest pattern under vehicle weight and the most popular for driveways. Stretcher bond looks cleaner and modern. Basket weave is more decorative and best for low-traffic paths.
How long does block paving last?+
Properly laid block paving lasts 25+ years with minimal maintenance. The big advantage over resin is that individual blocks can be lifted and replaced if anything gets damaged — invisible repair.
Do you offer polymeric sand jointing?+
Yes — polymeric sand sets in the joints to prevent weeds and ant tunnelling. It costs a little more upfront but saves on long-term maintenance. We'll recommend it on most jobs.
