About our resin driveways service
A resin-bound driveway is made by mixing natural decorative aggregate with a clear UV-stable resin, then trowelling it across a properly prepared base — usually open-graded asphalt or sound concrete. The result is a seamless, slightly textured surface with no loose stones, no weeds in the joints, and full permeability. Because rainwater drains through rather than off, resin-bound systems are normally permitted development and don't need planning permission. We install across Stourbridge, Halesowen, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Kidderminster and the wider West Midlands. Every driveway gets the same approach: a site survey, drainage assessment, full base prep where needed, edge restraints, and a finish laid to a consistent 18mm depth. Do resin driveways need planning permission?+
Usually not. Since 2008, a front driveway that is permeable (rainwater drains through it, as with resin-bound) is normally permitted development, whatever its size. The exceptions are listed buildings and areas where the council has removed permitted development rights, and a new dropped kerb always needs separate council consent. We check this at the site visit.
How long does a resin driveway last?+
Properly installed, expect 20 – 25 years before any major refurbishment is needed. The resin is UV-stable so it won't fade, and the surface is unaffected by frost.
Can you overlay an existing concrete or tarmac driveway?+
Often yes. If the existing base is sound, level, and crack-free, a resin overlay is the cheapest upgrade — no dig-out or disposal costs. We assess at the site visit.
